The Love Note

"Where do we even begin to thank you for everything you did for us in the run up to and on our big day?! We immediately felt so comfortable when we met you on FaceTime over a year ago and knew that you were the girl for us. You made all of our weird and wonderful dreams come true, from helping us secure the only venue we had ever seen to making sure we had the most incredible welcome party at Motel Mexicola - you went above and beyond for us for which we will be eternally grateful for. When we look back to a month ago today, there is absolutely nothing we would change. The whole day totally exceeded any expectations we had.

Even more than physical things you arranged for us, we really looked to you for all advice and you helped with every single little thing we needed. Thank you for your patience and uncanny ability to never say “no”. Thank you also for making our families and friends feel so involved and special on the day. I cannot tell you how many people still tell us how amazing “Wedding Jess” was.

You are much more than a wedding planner to us, we are so lucky that we can also call you now our friend.

Thank you for all you did for us."

We asked Jess & Ian about their big day —

What made you decide to have a Bali wedding?

First and foremost we wanted a big party! We also wanted something that felt more like a big holiday for all of our friends and family but one that had a special celebration aspect to it. We felt Bali was the perfect place for this.

Our friends and family are spread out all over the world so we also wanted it to be somewhere neutral that meant a lot to both of us.

Why were you drawn to your venue?

The view. We saw Khayangan Estate online straight after getting engaged and we didn’t look at anything else. We knew it would be magical not just for us but for all our guests. It also meant a lot to us to have Balinese aspects in the design which Khayangan definitely offered.

On a logistics side, we also wanted somewhere that could host the ceremony, reception, pool party and also somewhere we could stay.

Tell us about the bride's most memorable part of the day.

The ceremony. The weather was beautiful and our flower arch tree was spectacular so the setting was breathtaking. With all of this, I was able to solely focus on the person at the end of the aisle and that meant everything.

Our photographer also captured every encounter with each guest after the ceremony as they came to congratulate us which was incredibly special to look back on because after the ceremony it all feels like a whirlwind!

And what was the Groom's most memorable part of their day?

Khayangan Estate has a staircase that goes from the bridal suite and leads to the ceremony area. I’ll forever remember watching my soon to be wife coming down those stairs to meet me.

The venue also offered a great place to get wedding ready with my family and groomsmen. We sat by the pool and had some beers whilst a mobile barber got everyone looking their sharpest!

Do you have any wedding planning advice for anyone else about to tie the knot?

The most important thing is to use a planner and not just any planner - someone incredible. We couldn’t have achieved a small fraction of what we had without Jess. She went above and beyond throughout the entire process from the day we met her on FaceTime a year prior to our wedding all the way through to our final day of celebrations. We later found out a few mishaps had happened that were out of her control but we had no idea on the day because she managed it all perfectly and made sure we had zero stress. Jess also has so much valuable local knowledge so when she works hand in hand with her incredible team they can make anything happen!

We also recommend having a few days to celebrate! Our welcome party which we hosted two days prior and our post-wedding pool party were just as memorable as the big day. It meant we were able to spend a lot of time with our guests who had traveled too far to celebrate with us.
