Why you need a videographer!

Beautiful photos of course capture many special and memorable moments. What they can’t give you is your favourite Aunty’s belly laugh or the sweat soaked fun on the dancefloor. Nor can they properly convey those pre-ceremony feels and jitters or that first look moment down the aisle.

It seems to be something that clients are either a strong yes or a firm no on, and I’ll be honest, before I started wedding planning I may have been sitting in the no basket with fear it would look like a cheesy perfume ad rather than capturing the essence of the day. However, the videography game has evolved dramatically in the last 5 years and now I am a total sucker for an amazing wedding film. Don’t get me wrong, there is a big difference between a tacky video and one that cleverly tells a story and captures moments that the bride and groom may have missed. It is so easy to get caught up in the formalities of things on the day and miss some really beautiful moments, but a videographer won’t miss them!

Let's be honest, it is a day you spend thousands of dollars on, but you also invest so much time and emotional energy. You will want to relive it and enjoy the day more than once and that is exactly why it is SO worth the investment!

Now with the different perspective of being a wedding planner myself, I love to have a debrief with my nearest and dearest friends and family following their wedding day and discuss how they feel reflecting on certain aspects of their day. I found the two comments that I am sharing with you really interesting, they are both perfect examples for this subject.

My beautiful cousin recently told me that her 4 year old daughter’s absolute favourite thing at the moment is to watch her Mum & dads wedding video.

‘Sometimes Faith will watch our wedding video over and over and also doesn’t quite understand why she wasn’t invited, even though she wasn’t born just yet!’

Another friend who had an equally amazing video and photo team told me she genuinely watches her wedding video way more frequently than she looks at her photos. I found this really interesting as often when my clients are deciding if they do or don’t want a videographer they wonder just how much they really will watch their video over.

We recently did an instagram poll and 70% of past brides who didn't get a videographer, wished that they did.

Having video memories of the most special and important day of your life, in my opinion, is completely invaluable.

That is my food for thought, at the end of the day (or the end of the soiree) investing in a good videographer is not something that you will regret!
